Dear friend,
A few days ago Yvonne and I returned from the southern villages of Jeremie and Abricot. Encouraged to visit Abricot and see what the mayor was doing there, we planned this trip fourteen months ago. Our ten hour ride over rock bed roads to travel 217 miles was not disappointing.
Abricot is a fishing village situated on Haiti’s southern coast. Natural sand beach surrounded by rocky bluffs creates a gentle Atlantic Ocean cove untouched by commercialism. On arrival we were advised there was no bottled drinking water and we would be drinking coconuts for the next four days. God provided and a special delivery arrived from Jeremie one hour away. Those twenty bottles lasted until the morning we left.
For one week Yvonne and I and our two camera persons filmed over thirty six hours of schools, development projects, cultural activities, rural villages, historic sites, panoramic views and most importantly Bible studies. Enduring incredible tropical temperatures, we slept under mosquito nets without a fan, sometimes to the luxurious sound of crashing ocean surf, steps away from our bed.
Setting up the editing equipment that I shipped in from the US and installing new computer today, our Haiti editing studio is ready to roll. Capturing and categorizing the thirty six hours of footage begins tomorrow. Editing the Fort Oge, Kredi Fam show, will be completed this week.
Subsidized by the Haitian government, gasoline prices have risen to $5.72 per gallon. President Preval announced last week that the international aid which provides for these subsides has run out. Gas prices will go higher very soon. Our trip to Abricot cost almost $300.00 in gas alone.
Three more shows must be filmed for the fourth season which begins airing in September. We are planning another trip to the Grand Anse region in late August. Your prayers and gifts make these soul winning productions possible.
Last month we augmented our production equipment with the purchase of two large hard drives and a new computer. Our generator is still working fine, though it has over 17,000 hours on it. Your gifts will help us save towards the inevitable replacement purchase.
Please continue to stand with us in prayer and giving for Haiti. We are committed to long hours and joyful sacrifices to walk through every open door He has placed before us. La Bonne Nouvelle is the great evangelistic tool God has ever privileged us with, and we highly value this opportunity. Join us in Haitian soul winning by contributing financially to Haiti For Christ. All gifts are acknowledged and tax deductible. Thank you very much.
Pressing towards the mark,
Joel and Yvonne Trimble
