God’s gifts in 2008
promise more in 2009
1 January 2009
Dear friend,
Last January we began the year with a fast and a miracle:
Yvonne explained the unique sensation she felt when she prayed for little Daniel. . .when he was one, Daniel drank a bottle of bleach. Now the doctor wanted to remove his kidney. But the woman’s pastor declared that Daniel would not need surgery; God would heal him! Prayer letter 01/08
In February the government controlled television station aired La Bonne Nouvelle:
Tele Nationale has scheduled and aired La Bonne Nouvelle three times a week including a coveted prime time spot, right after the news every Friday night! Isn’t that just like God, first the bad news and then The Good News (La Bonne Nouvelle)? 02/08
March brought the privilege of helping Haiti’s Christian television station:
Yvonne and I, then boarded a plane, twice, to minister in four Haitian churches in south Florida! On my second trip, I filmed and produced the 49th anniversary ceremonies of Haiti’s Radio Lumiere, while training a producer for their television station. 03/08
By April the church we have hosted in our mission home blossomed:
God’s Littlest Angels workers come to Haiti to care for abandoned infants waiting for new families. These young ladies from Canada, US and Europe faithfully attend Sunday morning worship and Tuesday night bible study in our home. 04/08
May food riots ripped Haiti apart:
Rioting which began in the southern town of Les Cayes . . . spread to the capitol within one week, as the rise in fuel costs, converted to out of reach food prices for the majority of poor Haitians. Prayer letter 05/08
June took us to Nassau; then to south Florida:
Our prayers for Miami and Fort Lauderdale were answered as cable network, Island TV asked to air La Bonne Nouvelle. 06/08
In July we filmed more of our fourth season of Creole Christian television:
Encouraged to visit Abricot and see what the mayor was doing there, we planned this trip fourteen months ago. Our ten hour ride over rock bed roads to travel 217 miles to southern Haiti was not disappointing. Prayer letter 07/08
August found me in Haiti’s most dangerous slum helping an American producer:
Together we filmed the infamous Cite Soleil. . . recently a gang stronghold and UN battle ground. Residents recognized me from my Creole Christian TV show and gave us safe conduct. They asked for a La Bonne Nouvelle crusade. Prayer letter 08/08
By the first of September Haiti was saturated from two back to back hurricanes:
Steady rain from Hurricane Gustave caused flooding and death in Haiti’s southern villages. Ground already saturated from tropical storm Fay could not hold anymore precipitation, giving way to mudslides in the village of Benet. Prayer letter 09/08
Within ten days two more major storms made land fall:
In addition to assisting in the evacuation from Gonaives of seven short term missionaries; I did four interviews with CNN via satellite telephone and provide them with storm footage. Christian Broadcasting Network, CBN, also requested and received my footage. Yvonne began a grass roots campaign between Hanna and Ike to notify US legislators of Haiti’s natural disaster.
November’s worldwide economic storms threatened more damage than the four hurricanes:
US economic collapse threatens to affect aid to hurricane devastated Haiti. Though President Bush publicly reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to help Haiti’s decade long recovery efforts, we expect a reduction in aid. Prayer letter 11/08
December drove us to our knees seeking His protection and provision in 2009. Donations are the financial backbone of Haiti for Christ. Your monthly commitment is absolutely necessary for La Bonne Nouvelle’s production. This soul winning work reaches millions of Haitians with the gospel of Jesus Christ every day. We live in a godless world where scorners increase; it is our God given mandate to declare the Good News. Your monthly gift of any amount helps us to lift high the name of Christ in this final harvest. Please use the enclosed envelope and write to us today. May God hide you in the shadow of His wings in 2009.
Under the urgency of the hour,
Joel and Yvonne Trimble
