National Television airsVoodoo and then The Good News
March 1, 2008
Dear friend,
Filming a reforestation project and then a 16th century sugar cane mill museum in Haiti’s Latibonite river valley was just the beginning of our 2008 schedule. Yvonne and I, then jumped on a plane, twice, to minister in four Haitian churches in south Florida! On my second trip, I filmed and produced the 49th anniversary ceremonies of Haiti’s Radio Lumiere, while training a producer for their television station.
Each time we minister in Haitian churches, we are thanked by the pastor for the work we are doing in Haiti. Grateful church members often express their thanks, specifically for the programs of La Bonne Nouvelle that bring the gospel to Haitians. Moved by the overwhelming gratitude, we must give God the glory for the privilege to serve Him. Thank you for your giving that makes this all possible. We know that your prayer and financial support is the backbone of our efforts. Since December your gifts have paid for cameras, production software, computers and gasoline that have allowed us to visit remote regions. In those often barren villages, television shows are filmed that document, God is miraculously transforming Haiti.
At the same time, the La Bonne Nouvelle shows bring a missionary or project to the attention of millions able to support their work. In Desarmes the Mennonite Central Committee is planting 500,000 trees annually with a budget of only $70,000.00. At Moulin Sur Mer, Sugar Cane Mill by the Sea, one man has preserved historic artifacts for his people.
La Bonne Nouvelle brings these amazing projects to center stage and testifies that Jesus Christ is working through individuals on behalf of Haiti. Each show includes a word from the Bible as I present the good news of Christ’s death and resurrection to a largely secular audience.
During Mardi Gras voodoo services and “cultural” events were aired on Tele Nationale and then there was The Good News. La Bonne Nouvelle got equal time as we enjoyed our first month of three airings per week on Haiti’s national television. Hallelujah!
Yvonne and I have filmed five of the thirteen shows for our third season. March brings more opportunities to visit missionaries and projects, with this privilege comes responsibility and expense. Please continue to mail your check to our Virginia office to support this soul winning ministry. Yvonne and I are deeply grateful and so are the Haitian people.
In His wonderful service,
Joel and Yvonne Trimble
